Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy is an integral part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. It explains what AIDRank.com stores on your device, why, and how to say no. Nothing on this page is a formality. Every cookie listed here is a cookie that actually exists.

1. What a Cookie Is

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. On the next page you load, the browser hands it back, which is how a website remembers anything at all. Without them you would be signed out on every click.

Cookies come in two kinds that matter here. Some are strictly necessary, meaning the site cannot function without them and no consent is required. Everything else needs your permission first, and that is what the banner asks for.

2. Your Choice

Analytics is off until you turn it on. Not off after you dismiss a banner, and not off in a settings page you have to hunt for. Off from the first page load, by default, for everyone, until you actively choose otherwise.

If you turn analytics off after having it on, we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser immediately. Your choice is remembered on this device only, so a different browser or a private window will ask you again. That is a limitation of how browser storage works, not a trick.

3. Strictly Necessary Cookies

One cookie, ours, and it exists only once you sign in. It carries no advertising value and it tracks nothing.

This one requires no consent under the law, because without it the dashboard you asked for cannot work. Blocking it in your browser will not break scanning, but you will not be able to stay signed in.

4. Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get used and which get ignored. It tells us that a page was viewed, not who viewed it. We do not use it for advertising, we do not run remarketing, and we have Google's advertising signals switched off.

Neither of these is set unless you press "Analytics on". We use Google's Consent Mode, which means the analytics tag is loaded in a state where it is not permitted to write storage. Until you consent it sends no cookie and stores nothing on your device.

Google processes this data as our processor under its own terms, and it may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Google's own privacy policy covers what it does with it. You can also install Google's opt-out browser add-on, which blocks Analytics everywhere and not just here.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Two other companies may set cookies, and only when you actively do something that involves them. Neither is set on an ordinary page view.

Some styling, fonts and scripts on this Website are served from content delivery networks rather than from our server. By the nature of how a browser fetches a file, those networks receive your IP address when your device requests it. This is how nearly every site on the internet is built. They do not set cookies for us and we do not use them to identify you.

6. Other Storage

Two things are kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. Local storage is never sent to our server, so we cannot see either of them.

7. Browser Controls

Beyond the panel in section 2, every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings and then Privacy. Look for "Help" in your browser if you cannot find it.

Blocking everything will stop you from signing in, since the session cookie is what keeps you signed in. Scanning will keep working, because scanning never needed a cookie in the first place.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we add a cookie, it gets a row in one of the tables above before it ships, not afterwards. The current version is always the one on this page and the last updated date is at the top. If we ever add a category that needs consent, we will ask you again rather than assume the old answer covers it.
